Hi! I was having this exact same problem and I was beating my head
against the keyboard trying to solve this. Here's what I tried before
I found my solution:

- Disable the firewall
- Ensure that the share works on another comptuer
- Run 'secpol.msc' > Local Policies > Security Options > Network
Security: LAN Manager authentication level > Send LM & NTLM - use
NTLMv2 if negotiated

No avail! I could not get this working. But then I remembered! I just
reset my BIOS battery! My date was complelely wrong... I think I set
it to the year 2025 (just messing around). So setting the year back to
the current year (2009) made all the difference for me in this
scenario. Hope I save at least one soul out there in cyberspace!

Thank you for the post, it work for us. Brand new Dell Latitude with the bios date and time incorrectly set.

in my case I was able to connect to remote computer via "Remote Desktop Connection" but was not able to connect to share folders. every thing was OK except the time which has been changed by one of my colleagues.
